SRPP assisted Lenskart in acquiring 92% of Owndays' shares

SRPP (together with Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu ("NO&T")) represented Lenskart Solutions Private Limited ("Lenskart") in its acquisition of 92% shares in Owndays Inc. ("Owndays"), the parent company of Owndays (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Owndays Tech & Media (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The purchase will create one of Asia's leading omnichannel eyewear stores.


Owndays, a Japanese direct-to-consumer eyewear brand, is valued at approximately $400 million as a result of the acquisition. In addition, Lenskarts, the buyer in the transaction and the largest eyewear retailer in India, is able to expand its market to 13 East Asian and Southeast Asian nations, including India, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Japan.


The transaction's lead counsel, Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu, is one of the "Big Four" law firms in Japan upon the merger of Nagashima & Ohno with Tsunematsu Yanase & Sekine. Nagashima & Ohno was founded in 1961 and was considered to be one of the "Big Four" prior to the merger. Since its founding in 2000, NO&T has expanded its international presence by opening offices in New York, Singapore, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Shanghai. Presently, the company has over 500 attorneys, including over 40 seasoned foreign attorneys from diverse jurisdictions.
